KIM Kwan-Young Solo Exhibition 金官泳個展 — The Pieces 12 May - 11 Jun 2023 Little Art Piece is pleased to present Kim Kwan-Young’s exhibition “The Pieces.” This is a solo exhibition of new works following
the artist’s 2021 show “The Memory of the Unconscious.”
Kim’s works are the result of 17 years of artistic exploration and experimentation. It reveals his distinctive style and creative philosophy through memories that were buried in his subconscious.
Through his use of color, form, and texture, Kim Kwan-Young creates minimalist abstract compositions that evoke a wide range of emotions and sensations. His paintings capture the subtle nuances of human experience, from the complexity of the human psyche to the beauty of life.
“It has been 17 years since I started working on retrieving lost memories that were buried in my subconscious. If I were to describe my past memories and emotions in one word, it would be ‘depression'. I am different now. I dream of happiness and live each day with gratitude. I am grateful for being alive, for having a loving family, and for being able to draw. I am also thankful for those who appreciate my art. I want to express my heart through countless drawings, memories, and pieces.“
Each painting in this exhibition is a window into Kim Kwan-Young's world, inviting the viewer to contemplate the mysteries of life and existence. The interplay of colors and layers, the delicate balance of shapes and lines, and the fluidity of paint all come together to create a unique and immersive experience.
